Solitude

In meditation, there are moments when my personality, my habits of thinking, are particularly revealed. I see the habits of thinking, the well-worn ruts of arguments and justifications.

Like a tree silhouetted by illumination, the particular habits of mind that have become Me come into definition. I’m able to see them in contrast to the clear light of the Witnessing mind, that self who watches thoughts come and go without identifying with them as Mine.

Sitting with this piece in my meditation space helps me remember the Witnessing mind within, accessible at any time. Could it help you remember too?
